PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which allows to produce a multicomponent copolymer of ethylene with a radical polymerizable organic acid or acid anhydride and another radical polymerizable monomer stably and continuously for a long time. SOLUTION: The method comprises producing a multicomponent copolymer of ethylene with a radical polymerizable organic acid or acid anhydride and another radical polymerizable monomer by high pressure polymerization, wherein the comonomer contains a copper compound.
