A method for assembling towers using prestressed concrete segments has holes incorporated through the segments to take tensioning cables. The holes are spaced around the circumference of each segment and align with similar holes in the adjacent segments. To ease the feeding of the tensioning cable the top of each hole has a tapering profile, with the widest aperture at the entry to the hole. The taper is between 10 and 150 deg. and the widest aperture is less than the wall thickness of the segments. The holes are formed by performs fitted into the moulds for the segments. |
