PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a rod support and to ensure the operation of a support body to prevent the breakage by non-actuation. SOLUTION: In this rod support for boring machine 10 comprising the rod supporting support body 16 pivotally supported on a mast 2 so as to be rotatable from a support position to an avoiding position, a kicker arm 19 is provided on the support body 16 at a prescribed angle, and a kicker 20 which abuts on the kicker arm 19 in the retreat of a rotary head to rotate the support body 16 to the support position side and abuts on the support body 16 in the advance of the rotary head to rotate the support body 16 to the avoiding position side is provided in the middle of the feed chain 14 of a feeder for longitudinally moving the rotary head.
