PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively decrease harsh noise generated in a gear device by a simple structure. SOLUTION: This gear device 6 transmits power from a driving motor 46 to a driving pulley 54, and cuts printing paper by reciprocating a cutter carriage 43a attached to an endless belt 56 wound to the driving pulley 54 and a follower pulley 56. A pinion gear 47 attached to a rotating shaft 46a of the driving motor 46 is meshed with a spur gear 48, and power is transmitted through a worm gear 49 integrally formed with the spur gear 48. A weight 57 shaped in a doughnut in an axial direction view is attached to the spur gear 48, so that the vibration damping rate of the spur gear 48 is improved, and meshing noise generated between the pinion gear 47 and the spur gear 48 is reduced.
