PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a stable combustion state of low-temperature premixed combustion in a transient state in a diesel engine. SOLUTION: In low-temperature premixed combustion, the stability of a combustion state (combustion stability) is detected, and if it is low, a fuel injection for an engine output consists of a main injection Pm and a sub injection Ps. The main injection injects at least a part of a demand fuel quantity, and the sub injection injects the shortage in the demand fuel quantity within an ignition delay period from the main injection. The combustion stability is predictively detected according to a rate of change in accelerator travel, an estimate of compression end temperature and the like. |
