PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-free copper alloy for a sliding part, which can cope with unleadding, secures machinability and seizure resistance, and further improves even abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: The lead-free copper alloy for the sliding part superior in seizure resistance comprises, by wt.% 20-45% Zn, 0.1-4% Bi, 0.1-6% Mn, and the balance Cu with impurities. The copper alloy has superior seizure resistance and abrasion resistance compared to a Cu-Zn-based alloy (an equivalent material to CAC202) and Cu-Zn-Pb-based alloy (an equivalent material to CuZn40Pb2 in a DIN Standard), which are conventionally used as materials for sliding parts. It can cope with unleadding because of containing no Pb. Furthermore, it has superior seizure resistance and abrasion resistance to a Sn added lead-free free-cutting brass alloy (an alloy in the invention of Japanese patent) publication number 07-310133 which the present applicant previously developed.
