PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved vertical motion regulating device in opening of a sunroof for smoothing a shift from a tilt-down operation to an opening operation. SOLUTION: This vertical motion regulating device in opening of the sunroof is provided with a panel stay 6, front and rear slide members 7 and 9 engaged with the panel stay, a guide rail 14 integrated with a fixed roof for slidably supporting the sliding members, a pin 11 protruded laterally in the rear end part of the panel stay, and a guide groove (an upper lever guide groove 13) arranged in the guide rail for fitting the pin when the slide panel is opened/ closed, and the panel stay 6 is arranged below left and right side parts of a slide panel for pulling the slide panel 3, which opens/closes an opening 2 arranged in the fixed roof 1 of the vehicle, below the fixed roof after tilting it down. In the vertical motion regulation device, an introduction member 15 having an introducing groove 16 along the moving locus of the slide panel from the tilt-down to the opening process of the slide panel is arranged in the guide groove. In this way, the pin can be smoothly inserted into the guide groove.
