PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chucking device for transporting a stock which can forcibly open a chucking claw to prevent any double heading when troubles occur in discharging a headed article. SOLUTION: In the chucking device for transporting the stock to take out/ bring in a headed article A' to a die 4 to constitute a heading station together with a punch, a projecting part 21 projecting more outwardly than a part to pinch the normal headed article A' is provided on a chucking claw 13b of a pair of right and left chucking arms 13 and 13 having the chucking claw 13b to pinch the headed article A' on the tip part. A detecting means 22 to detect any abnormality during the heading operation, and a forcible opening mechanism 23 which is abutted on the projecting part 21 by the abnormality detection signal outputted from the detecting means 22 to forcibly open the chucking claw 13b are provided.
