LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein a columnar spacer having satisfactory elastic force and efficiently following a cell gap changed by expansion/contraction of a liquid crystal when temperature is changed is formed and the defect of display abnormality liable to occur when the cell gap is locally expanded at high temperature can be prevented. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a color filter substrate 11 and a TFT substrate 12 mutually opposed to each other at a prescribed interval and a columnar spacer 20 formed between the substrates 11 and 12 and an organic interlayer insulating film 39 is formed on the surface opposed to the color filter substrate 11 of the TFT substrate 12. The part to be abutted on the columnar spacer 20 of the organic interlayer insulating film 39 is removed in this liquid crystal display device.
