PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To narrow the dispersion of retardation of a cellulose ester film used for an optical compensation film. SOLUTION: This cellulose ester film is produced by continuously casting a dope prepared by dissolving a cellulose ester in an organic solvent onto a casting support, continuously peeling the resultant cast film from the casting support, and drying the cast film. The water content of the dope is 0.01-2 mass%. The water content of the film during drying after casting is kept at 5 mass% or lower while the residual solvent content of the film is in the range of 0.1-480 mass%. |
