PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester fiber having excellent performance to be excellent in tint, generating very little deposit to a spinneret even when carrying out a continuous spinning for a long time through the spinneret and excellent in formability and improved in clarity and provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyester fiber is to carry out a polycondensation reaction of polymerization starting raw materials comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid glycol ester and/or a low molecular polymer of the same by using the reaction product of a specific titanium compound with a specific phosphorus compound as a catalyst, add a metal-containing phosphorus compound and an alkaline earth metal compound to the polyester synthesizing system in an arbitrary stage before the polyester synthesis is finished, subsequently obtain the polyester polymer by finishing the synthesis, carry out a melt spinning of the polyester polymer to form a fiber and elute 2-40 wt.% of the fiber with the aqueous solution of an alkali compound and form micropores on the surface of the fiber. |
