PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal mold device which can mold an optical element with superior aberration correcting capability by making it possible to greatly improve the shape precision of respective optical surfaces. SOLUTION: The metal mold device 10 molds the optical element, comprising a plurality of axially asymmetrical optical surfaces and at least one axially symmetrical optical surface, by metal mold insert pieces 11, 12, and 13 and is characterized in that at least a molding surface for forming the axially symmetrical optical surface among respective molding surfaces of the metal mold insert pieces 11, 12, and 13 is a free curved surface of axial asymmetry and so shaped as to cancel shape distortion in optical element molding. |
