PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner, which can ensure the operation stability when a small-capacity indoor machine is started or stopped, and reduce the abrasion and deterioration of a heat source machine (main unit) provided with capacity-controllable compressor. SOLUTION: The air conditioner comprises a plurality of heat source machines provided with at least one capacity-controllable compressor, so that the total capacity load of the indoor machine is divided by the plurality of heat source machines so that each heat source machine burdens a predetermined ratio of the load. The compressor is operated according to the capacity corresponding to the divided load.
