PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous coating material good in blocking resistance and abrasion resistance of a film and in film-forming property at normal temperature and capable of providing the film having excellent in appearance. SOLUTION: This aqueous coating material comprises an aqueous dispersion of a polymer mixture obtained by carrying out emulsion polymerization of (B) a vinyl-based monomer mixture in an aqueous dispersion or water solution of a copolymer (X) obtained by radically copolymerizing (A) a vinyl-based monomer mixture containing an acid group-containing vinyl-based monomer, and then carrying out emulsion polymerization of (C) a vinyl-based monomer mixture, and when the total amount of the vinyl-based monomer mixture (A), the vinyl-based monomer mixture (B) and the vinyl-based monomer mixture (C) is defined as 100 wt.%, (1) the content of the vinyl-based monomer mixture (A) is 20-70 wt.% and (2) the content of the vinyl-based monomer mixture (B) is 10-60 wt.% and (3) the content of the vinyl-based monomer mixture (C) is 20-70 wt.%, and a polymer from the vinyl-based monomer mixture (B) has <=10 deg.C Tg and a polymer from the vinyl-based monomer mixture (C) has >=70 deg.C Tg.
