PURPOSE: An air-conditioning system and setting method of the same are provided to allow an outdoor unit controlling a plurality of indoor units to automatically set addresses of the indoor units. CONSTITUTION: An indoor unit(12) includes a serial number storing part(34) storing information on serial numbers of the indoor units in a memory(16) installed to prevent data loss due to power failure. An outdoor unit detects number of the indoor units with identical first numbers of the serial numbers, detects rest of numbers of the serial numbers of the indoor units to set addresses of the indoor units with identical first numbers, and detects serial numbers of the indoor units with different first numbers in regular sequence to set addresses of the indoor units with no addresses set yet.
