PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light shielding device for a projector which intercepts light irradiated from a flood part of the projector to protect the sight of an expositor. SOLUTION: A light shielding device 10 attached to a liquid crystal projector 1 has a shield plate 35. The shield plate 35 can be displaced between a shield position where it is placed in the front of a flood lens 3B of the liquid crystal projector to intercept the light and an open position where it opens the front of the flood lens 3B. When the shield plate 35 is displaced to the shield position if necessary, the light can be intercepted to project the sight of the expositor.
