METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING RETAINING WALL AND GRAVITY TYPE RETAINING WALL HAVING PILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable retaining wall of high durability on weak ground. SOLUTION: A pile 10 is driven into support ground 6 located beneath the weak ground 3 and a gravity type retaining wall 20 is connected to the upper end of the pile 10 for construction. A projecting part 21 which projects from the bottom face of the retaining wall to banking 9 is formed integrally with the retaining wall and the load of the banking is downwardly applied to the projecting part 21 to produce an inward moment M1 at the top end of the retaining wall. The moment cancels out earth pressure which the banking exerts on the retaining wall.
