PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for washing capable of effectively preventing the generation of a bad smell even in the case of drying under a normal temperature and a high humidity by taking a long time such as the case of drying washed clothes in a room, and a detergent composition for the same. SOLUTION: This method for washing capable of suppressing the generation of the bad smell is provided by making <=10 ppb total of low molecular fatty acids, aldehydes and ketones and <=1 ppb total of sulfur-containing organic compound and nitrogen-containing organic compounds generated from the fibers after washing by prescribed evaluation methods, and the detergent composition for the same is also provided.
