PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner which prevents air from entraining vaporized fuel absorbed in absorbent in a canister. SOLUTION: In this air cleaner 15, a filter element 22 in which a filter cartridge 21 for preventing dust from entering an engine is folded in a zigzag form is provided in a vertical direction between both cases 17, 19 in a casing 20 formed out of the primary side case 17 having an inlet part 16 on one side part and the secondary side case 19 having an outlet part 18 on the other side part. The inlet part 16 and the outlet part 18 are disposed at an upper part of a center line of the casing 20. The canister 23 formed out of the absorbent, such as a granular activated charcoal, a honeycomb type activated charcoal, a fiber activated charcoal, an activated charcoal contaminated paper for absorbing the vaporized fuel is provided only at the secondary side bottom part of the filter element 22 in the secondary side case 19 of the casing 20 so as to cover almost the overall width of the casing 20 in the width direction and only an upstream half in an air flow direction.
