PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant resin composition which can eliminate effects on environments and human bodies and can give molded articles having excellent fundamental performances such as excellent mechanical properties and moisture resistance, and further excellent flame retardancy, and to provide a molded article formed from the flame-retardant resin composition. SOLUTION: This flame retardant resin composition contains as essential components (A) a thermoplastic resin and a polyhydric phenol which has a number-average mol.wt. of <=2,000 and is obtained by reacting (B) phenols with a compound represented by the general formula (1) (wherein, R<1> s are same or different and each represents amino, methylolamino or dimethylolamino; R<2> represents 1-12C hydrocarbon group) and a compound represented by the general formula (2): R<4> -CH2 -R<3> -CH2 -R<4> (wherein, R<3> represents phenylene, alkyl- substituted phenylene, naphthalene, alkyl-substituted naphthalene, biphenyl, or alkyl-substituted biphenyl; R<4> s are same or different and each represents hydroxy, 1-4C alkylether or 1-4C alkylester) as essential components. And the molded article formed from the flame retardant resin composition.
