PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fuming, hot-vaporizing insecticide for killing flies which is obtained by selecting the most suitable active ingredient in a fuming, hot- vaporizing insecticide for killing flies to be used in the form of a mat or a liquid and is excellent with respect to all points of insecticidal effect, safety, usability, productivity, etc., and to provide a method for killing flies using the same. SOLUTION: This fuming, hot-vaporizing insecticide for killing flies comprises an ester compound represented by formula I [R is H or a methyl group (especially at the 2-position) as an active ingredient. This method for killing flies comprises using the insecticide. The insecticide is in the form of a mat or a liquid.
