PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce danger during use by permitting an umbrella to emit light thereby making the umbrella conspicuous. SOLUTION: This umbrella consists of a central shaft 1, a handle 2 attached to the bottom end of this shaft 1, an umbrella section 5 consisting of a plurality of ribs 3 freely openably and closably disposed above the shaft 1 and a sheet 4 and a top end ferrule 7 of the shaft 1 projecting above the umbrella section 5. The top end ferrule 7, handle 2, caps 8 at the top ends of the ribs and cord 9 at the outer edge 6 of the sheet 4 of the umbrella are formed of plastic materials containing fluorescent and light storage materials and the respective plastic moldings are attached to the prescribed segments of the umbrella.
