PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve size reduction to reduce a bad influence upon the biotissue by performing easy and smooth insertion into a narrow biotissue and to detect the inserted position and insertion shape surely and with good accuracy. SOLUTION: An insertion part 3 into the biotissue of a catheter 2 as an example of a medical insertion instrument is constructed by an aggregate of a plurality of linear insertion members 3a having flexing property, formed of magnetic material having high magnetic permeability and different in length, a permanent magnet 5 for generating a magnetic field is attached to the insertion base end part of the linear insertion members 3a made of magnetic material having high magnetic permeability. The detecting device is provided with a magnetic sensor 6 for detecting a leak magnetic field from a plurality of magnetic field leak parts 3e formed by the tips of the liner insertion members 3a of the magnetic field introduced by the permanent magnet 5.
