PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiphoton endoscopy. SOLUTION: This apparatus includes an optical element, a GRIN lens, and a detector. The optical element has a first optical aperture. The GRIN lens has a first and second end parts. The first end part of the GRIN lens is disposed to receive light from the first optical aperture. The detector is constructed to measure a characteristic value of light emitted from the first end part in response to a multiphoton absorption event in a sample illuminated by light entering from the second end part of an endoscopic probe.
