PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel for fishing capable of detecting tension of a fishline in good productivity and reliability and high detection accuracy. SOLUTION: This reel for fishing is equipped with a magnetostrictive material 12 and a torque sensor 11 for detecting tension of the fishline 3 by a coil 13 provided on the outer periphery of the magnetostrictive material 12, and the magnetostrictive material 12 of the torque sensor 11 is provided by plating on the outer periphery part of a torque detection shaft 10. As a result, the magnetostrictive material 12 is obtained in good productivity and is free from fear causing release and has good reliability, compared with a magnetostrictive material provided by adhesion. Further, the torque acting on a spool exerts exactly on the magnetostrictive material 12 to enable high detection accuracy.
