PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the metabolic function of a microorganism by which the metabolic activity of the microorganism at an arbitrary place on an agar culture medium can be evaluated in a state that the microorganism grows on the agar culture medium, and to provide a device therefor. SOLUTION: This method for evaluating the metabolic function of the microorganism 8 is characterized by charging the microorganism 8 cultured on the agar culture medium 7 in a capillary tube 6 in a state that the microorganism 8 grows on the agar culture medium 7, dipping the capillary tube 6 in a measuring solution 11, and then evaluating the metabolic function of the microorganism 8 with a micro electrode 1 and a reference electrode 2 as working electrodes disposed in the measuring solution 11 and with a potentiostat 3 connected to the electrodes 1, 2.
