PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article, with which an excreted liquid can be speedily permeated. SOLUTION: This absorbent article 1 has a surface sheet 2 having a large number of small projecting parts 21 and small recessed parts 22. The total sum of areas of the small projection parts 21 in plane view thereof is 5 to 60% in terms of the area of a surface abutted to the skin in the absorbent article 1 and the area of each of the projecting parts 21 is >5 mm<2> and <150 mm<2> . In the area, where the small projecting parts 21 and the small recessed parts 22 are formed, the thickness of the sheet is 1 to 4 mm, and the small projecting parts 21 and the small recessed parts 22 are arranged along with the longitudinal or lateral line in the area corresponding to the excretion part of a person, who wears the absorbent article 1, and do not exist in both the side parts or in the front and rear parts of the absorbent article 1.
