An actuator for effecting bottom hole rotation consisting of an upper wash pipe (10) having a spiral groove mandrel (34) that is in operative associati on with a ball clutch assembly (48) that is secured to the upper wash pipe (10) . The weight placed on the actuator at the wash pipe connection is effective t o drive the mandrel (34) and ball clutch assembly (48) through a given amount of rotation, e.g., five rotations per actuation can be applied to a selected working tool.
