PURPOSE: A method and a device for optimizing recording current are provided to reduce the poor writing performance under the low temperature environment and the erasion of adjacent tracks but optimizing the recording current of a hard disc drive assembly. CONSTITUTION: A method for optimizing recording current includes the steps of preparing a disc having at least a surface formed of a plurality of tracks, selecting a target track(404), carrying out recording once on the target track and a plurality of tracks adjacent to the target track(406), carrying out recording on the tracks immediately adjacent to the target track by the predetermined number of times(108), reading data recorded on the target track and the adjacent tracks(410), and determining whether the number of errors on the tracks is larger than a predetermined reference value(412). If the number of errors is larger, a recording current value of the recording channel is reduced(414) while increased in the other case(428).
