PURPOSE: A flat display device, a side bar for a flat display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to achieve improved quality of product by maintaining a uniform cell gap and permitting electrons to reach the target phosphor in an accurate manner. CONSTITUTION: A flat display device comprises a closed container including a face plate(1) and a back plate(3) disposed at a predetermined spacing, and a side bar(5) interposed between the face plate and the back plate; and a unit arranged within the closed container, and which emits light. The side bar includes a contact portion(5a) contacting the opposed surfaces of the face plate and the back plate; and a non-contact portion(5b) disposed in vicinity of the contact portion and supplied with the material to be attached to the opposed surfaces of the face plate and back plate.
