PURPOSE: To provide an electroconductive organic compound which can reconcile a high molecular orientation and a high electric field effect mobility. CONSTITUTION: The electroconductive organic compound is constituted so as to bond a side chain moiety which simultaneously exhibits refractive index anisotropy and electroconductivity of the π conjugated system to the main chain moiety which exhibits electroconductivity of the π conjugated system, and the above main chain moiety has a repeating unit to be represented by formula (I) (wherein Z is a plurality of atoms necessary to complete a five- membered ring with a sulfur atom; X is at least one side chain moiety to be bonded to the above 5-membered ring; and n is an integer of 1-100).
