FIELD: polymerization catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at creating more economically efficient novel homogenous catalyst allowing production, from a single alpha-olefin, of a wide range of branched polyolefins from high-molecular (rigid) ones to elastomers with different molecular mass. For that aim, invention provides polymerization catalyst containing (i) 1,2- bis(arylimino)acenaphthyl complex with nickel bromide and (ii) alkylaluminoxane, which shows improved activity in polymerization under real conditions and which varies its activity at elevated ethylene polymerization temperatures resulting in formation of branched polyethylene (20 to 60 methyl groups at 1000 C) with controllable molecular mass as indicated above.
