PURPOSE: A communication terminal having a voice dialing function and a voice dialing method are provided to reduce the number of requesting re-speaking from a user by heightening a recognition rate on a voice signal inputted for a voice dialing and increase a use frequency of a voice dialing function by minimizing a voice signal recognition error. CONSTITUTION: When a digit string corresponding to a recognition result on a voice signal inputted from a voice recognizing unit, the inputted digit string and digit string of a phone number stored in a phone book are matched(301). A phone number that has the number of digits different from the digits contained in the inputted digit string among the digits contained in the digit string of the phone number is below a threshold value is detected(302). if the number of candidate phone numbers is judged to be less than two, it means that the detected candidate phone number is one(303). The detected phone number is determined as an optimum phone number and outputted to a confirmation unit(304). If the number of candidate phone numbers is judged to be two ore more(303), a recognition rate on the digits contained in the inputted digit string among the digits contained in the digit string of the candidate phone number is detected(305). An optimum phone number is determined on the basis of the detected recognition rate and outputted to the confirmation unit(306).
