PURPOSE: Provided is an improved method for removing a pin from a battery assembly by the step of providing a separator. CONSTITUTION: The method for removing a pin from a battery assembly comprises the step for providing a separator comprising a microporous membrane having an exterior surface portion of polypropylene containing at least 50 ppm of calcium stearate. Particularly, the calcium stearate is ranged from 50 to 3000 ppm of the polypropylene in the battery separator. Further, the membrane has the thickness of 1 mil(25 microns) or less and the pin removal force of 7100g or less.
