PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolytic solution for a secondary battery wherein safety of the battery in overcharge condition can be secured without giving bad influences on battery characteristics such as low-temperature characteristics and storage characteristics. SOLUTION: This is the nonaqueous electrolytic solution used in the secondary battery provided with the negative electrode and the positive electrode, which is possible to occlude/discharge lithium, and this is containing organic solvent(s), lithium salt(s) as the electrolyte and partly hydrogenated substance(s) of terphenyl, and this is the nonaqueous electrolytic solution characterized that the solubility of the partly hydrogenated substance to this electrolytic solution in the room temperature is 0.5 wt.% or more.
