PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide map information around a destination in the case that the location of the destination is unclear. SOLUTION: In a system constituted by providing a map information providing device provided with a map information DB storing the map information for providing the map information corresponding to a request from a portable telephone and portable telephones A and B provided with a function of detecting the position of the present machine, a map information providing method is provided with a process in which the portable telephone A detects the position information A of the present machine and receives the position information B of the portable telephone B from the portable telephone B, a process in which the map information providing device receives a map acquisition request and the position information A and B from the portable telephone A, a process in which the map information providing device extracts the map information of an area range including the positions of the portable telephones A and B from the map information DB, a process in which the map information providing device transmits the extracted map information to the portable telephone A, and a process in which the portable telephone A adds marks indicating the positions of the portable telephones A and B to the map information on the basis of the position information A and B and displays the added map information. |
