PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film feeding device for a camera capable of surely detecting a film leader part, and realizing the miniaturization of the camera because the arranging space of a detection part is made small. SOLUTION: The L sensor 74 of this camera is arranged at an opposed position to the cylinder part 52f of a sprocket part 51 assembled in a film guide 13 on a pressing plate 62. When the film is rewound temporarily after a cartridge is loaded, the rewinding position of the leading edge of the film leader part 96b is detected by the L sensor 74. In the camera, an occupied space in which the L sensor 74 is arranged is small, whereby the compaction of the camera can be realized. Since reflected light quantity on the surface of the cylinder part 52f is larger than that on the film where reflected light quantity is small, the detecting accuracy is improved.
