PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic inspection method enabling an ultrasonic wave to stably penetrate from the surface of a material or a product without using a liquid couplant, dispensing with posttreatment after inspection, and capable of using a membranous solid couplant repeatedly. SOLUTION: In this ultrasonic inspection method, an ultrasonic pulse is transmitted from the surface toward the inside of a sample (inspection material 1) from an ultrasonic probe 3 of an ultrasonic flaw detector 4, and reflected waves are received from an interface, a flaw, a defect part or the like, to thereby detect the state inside the sample. In the method, the ultrasonic wave is propagated inside the sample through a repeatedly-usable solid gel sheet 2 without using a liquid medium as a couplant for ultrasonic flaw detection. Otherwise, in the ultrasonic inspection method for measuring the sample thickness, the ultrasonic wave is propagated inside the sample through the repeatedly- usable solid gel sheet without using the liquid medium as a couplant for ultrasonic thickness measurement.
