PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information service system by which a user uses a mobile information terminal to acquire service information particular to a district from an information service station installed in the prescribed district by means of wireless communication. SOLUTION: The information service system is configured to comprise a server including a channel connection section connected to a communication channel and a database for storing service information; a plurality of information terminals each including a communication section for conducting Ir communication or Bluetooth communication and a request signal generating section for generating a request signal to make a request of communication permission and various service information item; and the information service station including a communication section for communication with a plurality of the information terminals by means of the Ir communication or the Bluetooth communication, a PHS communication section for connection by a PHS channel, and a service information storage section for updating and storing the various service information items. The information service station is installed i a plurality of districts and uses the Ir or Bluetooth communication as required, makes communication with the information terminals to allow the information terminals to acquire services.
