PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planktonic blue-green algae inhibitory granular material for ponds and marshes capable of inhibiting the growth of the blue-green algae and proliferation of the already grown blue-green algae in the ponds, marshes, etc., on the other hand, safe for organism groups living in water or subsoil and capable of floating on the water surface and efficiently spreading. SOLUTION: This planktonic blue-green algae inhibitory granular material for the ponds and marshes is obtained as follows. A wood flour prepared by pulverizing sawdust as an organic material, zinc hydroxide as a blue-green algae inhibitor, calcium carbonate as a specific gravity regulator and hydroxymethyl cellulose as a binder are respectively adopted and the components are mixed with a ribbon mixer. An adequate amount of water is added thereto and the resultant mixture is kneaded. The kneaded mixture is then molded into a granular shape with a disk pelleter, then dried and subsequently sieved to provide the plaktonic algae inhibitory granular material having a uniform grain diameter of about 2 mm.
