PURPOSE: An installing structure for an arm rest of a seat is provided to improve freedom of design to change seat width with maintaining functions of the arm rest by adhering and separating the arm rest from the seat when the arm rest is raised and lowered. CONSTITUTION: An installing structure for an arm rest(30) of a seat(10) includes a fixing bracket(12); a slide pin(20); a return spring and a hanging device. The fixing bracket is connected to a seat back frame(11) in the seat. A through hole(13) is equipped to a center portion of the fixing bracket. A fixing pin(14) is protruded to fix to an inner surface of the through hole. A head portion(21) is installed to a tip of the slide pin. A combining hole(22) is formed to a rear tip to be bolted with an arm rest frame. A slot groove of the slide pin covers a body spirally. A return preventing groove is formed to be separated with the slot groove. The slide pin is equipped to move left and right through the through hole of the fixing bracket with the fixing pin inserted to the slot groove. The return spring is supported between the head and the fixing bracket. The hanging device is fixed to a side of the fixing bracket. Therein, the hanging device is combined and separated temporarily with the return preventing groove by a rotation of the slide pin. Consequently, seat width is designed to reduce width of the seat according to the separating width between the arm rest and the seat by adhering and separating the arm rest from the seat.
