A reactor is fed at its base with a compound to be oxidized and an oxidizing gas. The reactor is divided into sections by separator plates provided with orifices compatible with a unidirectional flow of the reaction medium so as to prevent accumulation of gas under each of the plates. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the installation.
