Reinjection of blast furnace gas

Blast furnace mouth gases are treated to produce CO by dust removal, washing first in an aqs. sol. of ethanolamines + K2CO3 to extract CO2 and secondly in a conc. aqs. sol. of ammoniacal cuprous chloride + cupric chloride releasing a mixture which is optionally rewashed in cold H2O to condense the ammonia leaving pure CO. The CO is re-injected into the blast furnace and reduces consumption of coke.
