PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic material having high emission efficiency of far IR rays and high generation efficiency of negative ions. SOLUTION: First, a source material mixture containing at least fly ash or volcano ash, clay, and binder resin powder is kneaded with a kneading liquid. In this process, carbon powder is preferably added to the source material mixture. As for the binder resin, a phenol resin or a ketone resin is used. The kneaded material is molded into a specified form and calcined at >=750 deg.C in a non-oxidative atmosphere while controlling the carbon amount after the calcination to 5 to 20 wt.%. The temperature is preferably kept at near 300 deg.C for >=30 minutes or longer before raised to >=750 deg.C. To obtain the non-oxidative atmosphere, for example, nitrogen gas is supplied into a furnace. |
