PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual information retrieval service system easily usable without requiring much labor for the maintenance and storage of instruction for use and service manuals of articles. SOLUTION: A retrieval server 3 comprises a database 4 for storing the manual information on the retrieved articles and a retrieval means 5 for retrieving the database according to the identification information on the articles. When the retrieval server 3 receives a retrieval request from user terminals 2a to 2n through a communication network 1, the server retrieves the manual information on the articles based on the received identification information on the articles, and transmits the obtained manual information to the user terminals 2a to 2n by a transceiver 7. In addition, the server comprises an updating means 6 for revising or updating stored product information.
