PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for information storage, which can store information grouped by a logical unit in a terminal directory of a directory hierarchy and achieving the creation of the terminal directory only by changing a directory name. SOLUTION: When a new directory is required, a preparatory directory search means 11 searches for a preparatory directory of a base directory (S1). When the base directory 31 has at least preparatory directory, one of the preparatory directories is selected for obtaining a name of the selected preparatory directory. A new directory creation means 12 changes the name of the obtained preparatory directory to a new directory name (S3). Accordingly, information to be destroyed at a time of writing in a disk is the terminal directory which is accessed, or information inside the terminal directory, and thereby damage is restricted to the inside of the directory and is limited to the minimum.
