PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of magnetic fluxes interlinking with a stator winding in a synchronous motor having a structure with permanent magnets embedded in a rotor. SOLUTION: Flux barriers 31 are disposed behind the permanent magnets 14, 15 which are divided and disposed in the rotor to maintain the breaking strength of the rotor and reduce a leaking flux in the rotor, thus increasing the number of magnetic fluxes interlinking with the stator winding. The permanent magnets with the same magnetic poles as the permanent magnet 26 are disposed in the center of the flux barrier 31, thereby achieving similar effects.
