PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film feeding device for a camera having a sprocket mechanism whose occupancy space is small to realize the compaction of the camera. SOLUTION: In the camera 1, a cartridge can be loaded in a cartridge chamber in a direction along a take-up shaft in a state where a film leader part is wound, and the film leader part 96b is inserted to between a film guide 13 and a pressing plate 62 in such a loaded state. In such an inserted state, the perforation of the film is engaged with a sprocket pawl 56. The pawl 56 is fixed to an elastically deformable leg part 55c, and is pressed and retreated to (completely inserted) the inside of the cylinder part 52f of a sprocket part 51 by the inner peripheral wall surface 13f of a film guide 13 when it exists in a range where it is not engaged with the perforation 96a.
