The use of salts of elements of valency mu (with mu = 3 or more) as catalysts , the co-anions comprising at least one and no more than ( mu -1) anions with a sulfonyl function attached to a perhalogenated atom, preferably perfluorinated and more preferably a perfluoromethylene group. Independent claims are also included for the catalytic compositions and compounds and their preparation, and reactants including the catalyst and an agent providing a carbocation. |
