PURPOSE: A V5.2 subscriber state managing method in an access network is provided to provide physical state information on a subscriber locating in a remote place by transferring various types of state information on subscriber received in an access network such as a VoDSL gateway and diagnostic function performance result to an exchanger. CONSTITUTION: If it is judged that a normal call can be established between an AN(Access Network) and an LE(Local Exchange), that is, for example, when the AN transfers an ESTABLISH message containing a subscriber state request to the LE, the LE actually establishes a call for a test and transfers an ESTABLISH ACK message to the AN. After the normal call is completely established, that is, for example, when the LE transfers a DISCONNECT message containing a subscriber state to the AN, the AN releases the call and transfers a DISCONNECT ACK message to the AN. In addition, when the LE transfers an ESTABLISH message containing a subscriber diagnosis request to the AN, the AN actually establishes a call and transfers an ESTABLISH ACK message to the LE. After the normal call is completely established, the AN transfers a DISCONNECT message containing a subscriber diagnosis result to the LE. Then, the LE releases the call and transfers a DISCONNECT ACK message to the AN. In case of the ESTABLISH message for a normal call establishment, if a normal call establishment is impossible in a remote station because of a state of a subscriber, that is, for example, when the AN transfers a DISCONNECT message for call release containing state information of a corresponding subscriber in line information to the LE, the LE releases the call and transfers a DISCONNECT message to the AN.
